Itinerary

Getting documentation squared away this week.  Typed up the itinerary to view at a glance.
Photo of Via dell'Amore The Cinque Terra, Italy.  Photo taken August 2008.  A very special place to visit. We took the train from Cavi (Lavagna) to La Spezia.  We were able to get on a boat tour connecting the different towns of Portovenere, Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola, Riomaggiore.  Via Dell 'Amore is between Riomaggiore and Manarola.  In Manarola we caught the train and went for dinner in Santa Margherita.  Hope to return here some day.

Bon Voyage soon :-)

Last few weeks before we leave for France and Spain

Bonjour!  Hola!
e-Tickets have arrived, sent in our Speed Pass for the motorhome, booked a tour of Alhambra.  The itinerary is planned.  After arriving in Paris we taxi to South Paris to pick up the motorhome and then drive to the Loire Valley close to the town of Blois where we camp for two nights.  We will travel one day and then stay over two nights except in Barcelona and Madrid areas where we plan to stay three nights.

Looking forward to the Andalucia area that is pictured above as we hope to have a short visit with friends staying close of Marchena, Spain, and ride our bikes along Spain's vias verdes (greenways) which are one of Andalucia's lesser known rural attractions.

I hope to post some photos and news as we travel ... just have to see how internet service works over there and if I am "techie" enough to blog.

Au revoir!  Adios!

Choosing the RV

Choosing the RV is part of the adventure.  Go to the website http://www.ideamerge.com/ and click RV Rental Europe. In 2008 we chose a Compact Standard Globecar Globescout Fiat Ducati that was perfect for the two of us.  For this trip we decided on a Dethleffs A 68 Sunlight.  Under "Customer Reviews" you can still read our review of 07September2008.  We found reading the reviews very helpful.  There are tips from fellow travellers about what to bring, what to rent, where they went and much more.
Now to insert a photo of the A 68 Sunlight ... here goes:

Getting started

I am excited to start my very first blog and to share with you the excitement of planning and then taking you along with John, Willy and myself on an RV trip we have planned for September 2011 through France and Spain.
Last fall we decided to go on this trip, booked our flights, put a deposit on the motorhome and have been researching campsites, many of which we were able to book in 2010.  We have only five more campsites to reserve ... so with the help of our trusty TomTom GPS with navigation for Europe that we used in 2008 we hope to find our way without too much trouble (you know what I mean, eh) ... little side trips are always at the waiting.
Hope you will enjoy this adventure through France and Spain with us.
